DAALCHA - Gram lentil and bottle gourd

Wash:
       1 HEAPING CUP OF (BENGAL) GRAM LENTIL, now cook it in
       3 CUPS OF WATER
adding:
       1/2 TEASPOON TURMERIC POWDER    ہلدی
       1 TEASPOON RED CHILI POWDER    لال مرچ
       1/2 TEASPOON GARLIC PASTE    لسسن
       1/2 TEASPOON GINGER PASTE    ادرک
      SALT to taste
Seal lid and cook until lentils turn soft; 
now add:
       1/2 KILO (1.1 LBS) RAW BOTTLE GOURD which have the skin peeled, 
       seed removed and cut into small pieces and lightly blended in water so that
       its not entirely mashed;
and:
       WATER for desired consistency
       1/2 TEASPOON GARAM MASAALA
       1" PIECE OF JULIENNED GINGER
       GREEN CHILI desired amount
       2 TEASPOONS OF WHITE CUMIN dry fried and crushed; cook till ready.

Garnish with chopped ONIONS tempered in CLARIFIED BUTTER
